Disney Interactive Studios has announced that Disney/Pixar’s Cars 2: The Video Game will be coming to major platforms this summer. The game will allow players to jump into the Cars universe and features a brand new international spy theme. ALl the beloved Cars characters are coming back to compete in the action=packed spy adventure as well as traditional world-class racing. The video game will correspond with the release of the Disney/Pixar film, Cars 2, releasing this summer to theaters worldwide.
The game will feature more than 20 characters and takes place in CHROME (Command Headquarters for Recon OPerations and Motorized Espionage) where the Cars train to become world class spies. Players will be able to use of high-tech gadgets in simulated hazardous missions to evade and slow down their enemies. The developer, Avalanche Software, who developed Toy Story 3: The Video Game, are working close with the Pixar artists to bring the characters from the films into the game.
“Cars is one of Pixar’s most successful and treasured franchises, so we are thrilled to be working with Avalanche Software again to extend our creative vision of the Cars 2 universe into the interactive medium,” said Jay Ward, Cars franchise guardian at Pixar Animation Studios. “Avalanche Software has the technology, experience, and history in working with us to create the best-looking Cars video game to date.”

The game will feature connectivity to the “World of Cars Online” – a free-to-play browser-based, virtual world based on the Cars universe. Players will be able to venture beyond Radiator Springs with their favorite Cars character as they gain rewords and use those to unlock new items in the World of Cars Online.
Cars 2: The Video Game will be available on major video game platforms this summer including PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS, and PC/MAC.
