Disney Interactive Studios and TT Games announced LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game for the Nintendo 3DS coming in May 2011. This version will bring the LEGO Pirates world to life with beautiful 3D garphics. The game includes unique features like “Pirate Duel”, a chance encounter battle system using the 3DS Street Pass system, support for Play Coins, and high res graphics.
“The Nintendo 3DS lets players experience a LEGO game like never before, and allows us to add new depth to the Pirates of the Caribbean universe,” said Adam Sussman, senior vice president of publishing, Disney Interactive Studios. “The game incorporates new features such as the Pirate Duel system and high resolution 3D effects to deliver fun and clever gameplay that fans of the LEGO series expect.”
LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game will feature more than 70 characters and will take the player through the environments found in the Pirates of the Caribbean films all with a LEGO brick makeover.
The 3DS Pirate Duel will use the 3DS’s Street Pass feature which allows the Nintendo 3DS to automatically detect and connect with other Nintendo 3DS devices. Players will earn Play Coins that will unlock and allow them to use new characters. By winning, you will earn experience points that will allow you to level up your character gaining health bonuses, new moves, and extra characters. With the Nintendo 3DS, you will be able to play the game in either the 2D standard mode or in 3D.
LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game will be available on the Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, PSP, PC/Mac, and the Nintendo DS family of systems as well as the new Nintendo 3DS in May 2011. Note that the 3D functionality will only be available on the 3DS.
